Among Red & Amber & Green
Among Red and Amber and Green explores one of London’s North Circular, junction by junction. The title, borrowed from Louis MacNeice’s Autumn Journal, echoes my own fascination with ‘Britain’s noisiest road’, which weaves through many of London’s most diverse neighbourhoods. Drawn by childhood memories of long drives and the intrigue of familiar yet mysterious place names, I photograph the spaces that exist at its edges. The work focuses on the overlooked environments where flyovers, industry and advertising collide with canals, nature reserves and local communities. Through atmospheric colour images, I’m interested in the contradictions of these peripheral landscapes, places shaped by movement, consumption, history and chance encounters, inviting viewers to pause and consider the fragments of urban life that usually pass in a blur.
